The seniors – both All-Trinity League honorees last year, signed letters of intent Tuesday at a brief ceremony on campus.

“These are great kids from great families and are among the best players statistically that have ever played at JSerra,” Coach Brett Kay said.

Wiest, a right-handed pitcher, was 6-3 last year with a 1.60 earned-run average. He led JSerra to its first-ever CIF baseball playoff victory  last summer.

Dahlson hit .385 with five home runs and 30 RBIs.

Both played key roles in leading the Lions to the 2009 Trinity League title.

“They represent our program well, and it will be tough to see them go after this season,” he said. “But I am confident they will do well.”

They are among nine members of last year’s squad to have earned Division I scholarships.
