On Thursday, January 28, 2010, JSerra hosted their annual Fall Fine Arts Showcase, held in the Center Room. Students presented their best performances of the 2009 Fall semester.
With students showcasing their talents from all the arts departments, parents, students and staff gathered to see the fruits of their labor.
Opening with a bang, the Drama department dazzled with a performance of “Lives of the Soulless,” written by advanced drama student Bridget Farmer. JSerra’s Orchestra followed, showcasing the works of Bach, Smith and Dvorak.
Closing the instrumental set was a crowd favorite, “Wizards of Winter,” performed by the Steel Drum Band. A private performance of the band was later auctioned off, and proceeds of the sale benefit the instrumental music program at JSerra.
Other activities for the night included a raffle with crowd-pleasing prizes, like a new pair of snowboarding boots, wine and cheese baskets, and much more. While attendees walked the Center Room, they were able to enjoy artwork in various forms, from photography to painting, everyone lingered to see the incredible works by our very own artists in the JSerra community.
Dance performances by instructor Lisa Gabriel’s class featured students dancing the Salsa and Tango, throwing the crowd into a fit of amazement, with surprises coming from every direction!
To finish off the enchanting evening, the Men’s and Women’s Ensemble regaled the crowd with sweet melodies from Gustan Holst, Randall Stroope, and even a little Gospel Melody from Destiny’s Child.
