JSerra Baseball LA Times Preseason #3

The Los Angeles Times has ranked JSerra’s Trinity-League-title defending baseball team third in its preseason rankings.

Austin Hedges

In the print edition of today’s paper, writer Ben Bolch said, “Catcher Austin Hedges (UCLA) is such a threat to opponents, ‘Danger’ should be his middle name.”

Hedges isn’t the only stand-out returning from Orange County Coach of the Year Brett Kay’s team, which finished 22-7.

Junior outfielder Clay Williamson (Cal State Fullerton) and seniors Grahamm Wiest (Cal State Fullerton) and Bret Dahlson (Loyola Marymount) are among the ball-players returning who have already earned big-time college scholarships.

“While a preseason ranking is a testament to our boys and the program, it’s a 32-game season for us,” Kay said. “We aren’t looking ahead and we have to understand that it is important that we get better each day.”
