The school year has started and the JSerra choir has already been hard at work planning some exciting events for the upcoming year. We have just confirmed that our Chamber Choir will be travelling to Italy next April and will have the esteemed honor of singing for His Holiness, Pope Benedict XVI. The ten day trip will include an audience with the Pontiff as well as tours of the Vatican and garden as well as surrounding areas such as Tuscany and Venice or Pompei. Fr. Vincent Gilmore will accompany the choir and will be a very valuable asset to us while touring Rome. The men and women of the choir together with their parents have already begun raising money for the trip with program ads and now are beginning to sell tickets for various concerts and dinners.
Also SAVE THE DATES – November 4th is our 1st Annual “Taste of Italy” Spaghetti Dinner. The evening will include a delicious spaghetti dinner with entertainment by our award winning choirs. The event will be held at St. Edward Catholic Church in Dana Point. November 13th is our Renee Bondi Benefit Concert. If you have never heard this top selling Catholic recording artist, you are in for a real treat. Concert will be held at St. Timothy Catholic Church in Laguna Niguel. Tickets for both events are on sale now. You may purchase them at the cashier’s office or you can RSVP by email for the spaghetti dinner to Jennifer Fitzpatrick at firstname.lastname@example.org. For information on Renee Bondi, please visit www.reneebondi.com. Look for more info in the coming weeks for both of these outstanding events.
As you can see we are putting together some quality events and we hope that you will come out and show your support for the choirs. The proceeds of these events will directly help many families trying to raise funds for the various trips and competitions planned for the year. Stay tuned for more information and details on these events as they approach.
Also, please keep the choir in your prayers the weekend of October 8th as they travel up to Hartland Retreat Center for a spiritual retreat and music workshop. During this weekend the kids will fellowship with one another, work on music for the upcoming year and share their faith. Fr. Vincent will join them on Saturday night for Mass and a wonderful bonfire. Last year many of the teens from other schools heard our music and joined the bonfire as they relished the opportunity to pray and sing openly about their faith.
We hope to see you at our upcoming events. We will continue to put updates on the blog so check back often for additional information on the activities of the choir.
