OC Metro Praises JSerra Magnet Programs

SimMan used to demonstrate treatment of sepsis.

JSerra is “considered by many to be one of the finest university-prep institutions in the area” according to an article published this morning on the OC Metro website, written by Larry Urish. The article focuses primarily on recent news that JSerra will launch its second magnet program, with an emphasis on business, in partnership with the highly rated Paul Merage School of Business at UC Irvine. It also discusses the arrival of JSerra’s own SimMan®  to campus, and the medical magnet program’s first academic demonstration featuring the portable and advanced patient simulator (see photos).

“JSerra Catholic High School, considered by many to be one of the finest university-prep institutions in the area, has added another feather to its cap with its new Business Professional Magnet Program. It will feature an affiliation with UC Irvine’s prestigious Paul Merage School of Business, recently ranked No. 27 in the country by the Financial Times.”

Students watched the SimMan demonstration performed by Mission Hospital personnel.
“The business program is modeled after the school’s highly successful Pre-Med Magnet Program, which, through a school/community partnership with Mission Hospital, gives top-notch students the opportunity to shadow physicians, nurses and other health-care professionals while completing a number of challenging courses. Earlier today, students in the school’s medical program observed a demonstration by Mission Hospital staff that featured its new SimMan, a state-of-the-art patient simulator. During the demonstration, SimMan breathed, talked and showed symptoms of sepsis. Prior to the demo, students learned about the medical condition, as well as related topics such as diabetes, diagnostics and infections.”
