Katie Matthews Awarded By the President

Katie Matthews, JSerra senior attending Loyola Marymount this Fall has been awarded the President’s Volunteer Service Award, for having over 100 hours of community service in just one year.

Matthews received a a bronze medal for her outstanding work in over nine different charity organizations, national recognition and a hand written letter from President Obama, thanking Matthews for her hard work and giving heart.

“Thank you for your devotion to serve and for doing all you can to shape a better tomorrow for our great Nation.” President Obama.

Matthews who is also involved in JSerra’s swim has had the privilage of swimming as a varsity competitor since her freshman year, and has continuosly been involved in JSerra’s Environmentality Club, and Race for the Cure, among numerous others.

JSerra along with President Obama and our surrounding community, congratulate and thank Katie for all her efforts and wish her the best at Loyola Marymount this fall.
