The first film that best-selling author Martin Dugard ever wrote premiered Thursday at the Cannes Film Festival.

But he skipped going to France to bask in the glory

That’s because he has a book signing at the Rancho Santa Margarita Borders last night.

And he has to get the track team he coaches atJSerra Catholic High School ready for CIFs today.

It’s quite a hat trick.

The film, “A Warrior’s Heart,” is a coming-of-age lacrosse drama set at the fictitious Sierra High School (a thinly veiled JSerra) starring “Twilight” vampire siblings Kellan Lutz and Ashley Greene and “Glee” hunk Chord Overstreet, all cast by Dugard before they hit the big time.

But the book is what Dugard is most excited about.

It’s about running.
