Katerine Delaney Wins the 1600 in CIF Finals in Record Time

JSerra senior Katherine Delaney continued a spectacular season in the 1,600. Holding the lead throughout the race, she won

JSerra's Katherine Delaney leads the pack on the way to winning the 1,600 meters at the CIF-SS Track & Field Division 4 Finals in Cerritos on Saturday.

the Division 4 title with a lifetime best effort of 4:46.82.

That time was the fastest among all four divisions and is the eighth fastest in county history.

“I came into this with a positive mind frame and I pushed myself as far as I could,” said Delaney, who is second in the state this season. “I feel honored and exhilarated that all my hard work is paying off.”

Delaney (2:14.00) also finished second in the Division 4 800 final to qualify for the Master’s meet.

Grant Davis Commits to ASU

Senior Grant Davis signs his letter of intent with Head Coach Brett Kay

Senior Grant Davis has committed to Arizona State University, after making a tough decision between Ohio State and Arizona.

Davis who is hitting 368. with a team high 24 runs and 12 stolen bases committed to the Sun Devil. Grant marks the 21st Athlete to commit to a Division 1 School under Head Coach Brett Kay.

“Grant has been an outstanding performer this year, and he has been one of the most consistent student/athletes in our program, this is a testament to him and his hard work; and I would also like to Thank Coach Dennis Wyrick for taking Grant under his wing, and guiding him throughout his last two years here at Jserra,” said Coach Brett Kay “Grant is great example of what Jserra Baseball is about; hardwork, determination, and hustle.”
