JV Girls Tennis Ends Season with a Perfect Record

*A meesage from Tennis coach Keith Orahood

Congratulations to our 2011 Junior Varsity Girls Tennis Team, undefeated in league play (8-0) to become the 2011 Trinity League Champions.  With an overall record of 16-2, this is the first JSerra tennis team to win a championship, boys or girls, at any level.

Led by juniors Emily Lown and Captain Lizzy Celentano, this seasoned team was blessed with transfer students Montana and Lauren Cooper, Kelsey Testman, and Hannah Griesemer.  Rounding out the starting line-up were Alli Jensen, and two freshmen: Kendall Chiate and Nilou Sheybani.

“Because we won a couple of non-league matches on game count, after tying 9 – 9 in sets, our overall record was truly a team effort,” said Coach Keith Orahood.  “We pride ourselves in running a ‘no cut’ program at JSerra.”

Other team members include: Gabriella Deitos, Kameryn Ross, Monique Farha, Gabriella Sarjeant, Vanessa Zuck, MaryLu Kerins, Frankie Marino, Katherine Kavanaugh, and Sarah Chapman.

“Our goal in JV is to play and practice well and to get ready for the rigors of playing varsity in the nationally tough Trinity League.  Coach Kirk will be receiving a handful of battle tested winners to strengthen our varsity team in the 2012 campaign, while next year’s JV team will be inheriting some excellent players off the 2011 Frosh/Soph team.”

Again, congratulations on a super year…great job ladies.
