JSerra Comes Out Firing, Rolls Over Costa Mesa

Junior guard August Touchard had 21 points, six rebounds and five assists and freshman guard Coco Miller had 19 points, six rebounds and three assists to help eighth-seeded JSerra overwhelm Costa Mesa, 93-22, in the first round of the CIF-SS Division 4AA girls basketball playoffs on Thursday night at JSerra High.

The two teams played with a running clock for the final 6 minute sand 5 seconds after the Lions took an 81-20 lead.

Samara Hanna and Julia Kenefick also scored in double figures, finishing with 12 and 10 points, respectively. Megan House added seven points and 10 rebounds.

Nancy Aguilar was the only player in double figures for the Mustangs, finishing with 10 points.

The Lions (21-6) play at ninth-seeded Bishop Montgomery of Torrance in the second round on Saturday at 7 p.m. The Mustangs finished with a 13-14 record.
