Domino’s Founder Tom Monaghan Speaking at JSerra March 8

JSerra Catholic High School proudly invites you to a private speaking engagement featuring Mr. Tom Monaghan, founder of Domino’s Pizza. He will be speaking to all JSerra students on Thursday, March 8 at 1:30pm in the JSerra Pavilion. The entire community is welcomed to attend.

Named by the Daily Catholic in 1999 as one of the top 100 Catholics of the 20th century, Monaghan’s rags-to-riches story is well-documented. His autobiography, Pizza Tiger, hit bookstore shelves in 1986, and the Domino’s Pizza website contains a chronology of Monaghan’s “corporate success story.”

When Monaghan sold Domino’s in 1998, he turned his focus to Catholic philanthropy. He has officially pledged to give away at least half his fortune. In an article for, hometown of Domino’s corporate offices, he was quoted as saying “I came into the world penniless and as a Catholic Christian, I know that I cannot take any of it with me, so it has long been my desire to use the material resources that I have been blessed with to help others in the most meaningful ways possible.”

Since selling his homegrown global pizza delivery chain, Monaghan has focused his time almost exclusively on his efforts to spread Catholicism through education, in part through his Ave Maria Foundation, based in Ann Arbor, Michigan, which has donated $140 million to promote conservative Catholic education, media and other organizations.

Perhaps his largest philanthropic endeavor, however, is Ave Maria University, a four-year liberal arts campus 30 miles northeast of Naples, Florida. Ave Maria University is a vibrant academic institution that pledges faithfulness to the teachings of the Church and is committed to offering one of the finest classical liberal arts curricula available, as well as opportunities for specialized study in all of the sciences, social sciences, and humanities. Case Studies Program Brings Light to College Applications

College applications can be stressful and a bit nerve wrecking, but JSerra Counseling is here to help.

Join the JSerra Counseling department as they host the first College Case Studies Program, March 7, 2012.  College representatives will lead parents and students through a mock admissions committee using mock applications. The exercise will point out the intricacies of the process and the importance of assembling a strong application.

Guests will gain insight and understanding as to what is valued in the application. RACC concludes the Case Study with either a mini college fair or a panel discussion.
