The JSerra senior  scored three goals for the Lions in a 3-0 victory against St. Francis last week, and then knocked in the game winner in a 2-1 triumph over De La Salle. Fabulich scored a team-leading nine goals this season, putting him in a six-way tie for fifth in the county.

Emily Lawrence Commits to Embry-Riddle

Recent JSerra graduate and San Juan Capistrano resident Emily Lawrence has signed to play collegiate soccer at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU) in Prescott, Arizona.

Lawrence, a four-year varsity player for the Lions and  team co-captain, will be joining the ERAU Lady Eagles as one of five incoming freshman on the team. A defensive center midfielder, Lawrence has broad experience having participated for four years in the prestigious Trinity League,  during her time at JSerra as well as ten years of Club Soccer experience in the highly competitive Southern California Developmental and Coast Soccer Leagues.

Lawrence, who was a four-year scholar athlete and lifetime member of the California Scholarship Federation (CSF) and National Honor Society (NHS), is also the recipient of JSerra’s 2011 Faculty Award. Lawrence was also recently awarded the 2012 Orange County Fire Authority Scholarship along with the prestigious “Women of Distinction” Scholarship from ERAU.

ERAU is an internationally recognized leader in aeronautical sciences and is part of the NAIA Cal Pac Athletic Conference. Lawrence plans on studying Global Security and Intelligence.

Don’t miss a minute of these nail bitting games as the boys basketball team takes on Laguna Beach at 7 p.m. tonight. Also, competing in the first round are the Lady Lions, Feb. 16 verses Centennial High School at 7 p.m. and the boys soccer team against Montebello at 3 p.m.

JSerra’s David Mickle is OC Varsity’s Scholar Athlete of the Week

A senior forward for the Lions, Mickle has been a model of high achievement in the classroom and in the community. His current courses are: Honors Comparative Religion, Intermediate Piano, Spanish 4, English 4, AP American Government, AP Physics C, and AP Calculus BC. He is the treasurer of the school’s Paws for Preventing Poverty club. He is also a member of the Peru club and has traveled to Piura, Peru to help build houses, donate clothes, and teach English to the local population. Mickle has been a four-year youth leader for the Corpus Christi in Aliso Viejo. His top college choices are Cornell, Northwestern, and Vanderbilt where he plans to pursue a major in Environmental Engineering.

JSerra Athletes Sign Letters of Intent

Congratulations to JSerra’s Brooke Barnidge, Jonavaughn Williams and Sagar Jamusaria for signing their letter of intent.

Brooke Barnidge committed to playing soccer at Point Loma University, majoring in psychology. “I’m beyond excited to play for Point Loma. It’s everything I had ever wanted since I was a kid. All my training is finally paying off.”

Jonavaughn Williams committed to play football for University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV), majoring in business and hotel administration. “I am blessed that UNLV is giving me the opportunity to play football for them, it wasn’t an easy decision but this is where I’m meant to be.”

Sagar Jambusaria committed to play soccer at Northwestern University, hoping to major in kinesiology.
“I am extremely excited to play for Northwestern. No one in my family has ever played a sport at the collegiate level. I’m happy that Northwestern can offer me a strong academic experience as well as athletic.”
