Congratulations to three-sport athlete Dante Pettis for being named as OC Varsity’s Athlete of the Week.
The versatile junior was the only county athlete to win two individual titles at the Orange County Championships. Pettis won the long jump (22-8¼) and returned later in the meet to win the 200 in a time of 21.84. Pettis is the current county leader in the 200 and has the county’s best long jump mark of the season under all conditions.
Just want to get out the word that we had a tremendously successful finale to the track and field season at the CIF Championships. Of the eight athletes who competed, each earned All-CIF honors.
So congratulations to D.J. Bailey (4×100), Nick Cirramusti (4×100), Chas Harmon (4×100, 400), Alli Jensen (discus), Colby Lindholm (3200), Caitlin Nilssen (pole vault), John Siegel (4×100), and Jonovaughn Williams (4×100) for their extraordinary achievements.
Looking forward to seeing many of you for cross-country season.
And for everyone else, have a great summer and know that the entire coaching staff is looking forward to seeing you in December and January for the 2013 track and field season.
JSerra’s track and cross-country coach Martin Dugard, sits down with Coast Magazine’s Terence Loose to talk about writing his first screen play, becoming a New York Times best selling author, and the strides of being a high school running coach.
