Andres Mendoza Commits to UC Irvine

Congratulations to Andres Mendoza for signing his letter of intent, to play for the Anteaters at the University of California, Irvine. 

The center midfielder has had a successful high school soccer career as a Lion and looks forward to beginning his college career as an Anteater.

“It has always been my goal to play soccer in college, and now that all my hard work has paid off to meet my goal, I’d like to aspire to play professionally. Continuing my success in soccer and my education is a big focus, and I believe I can continue this at UCI.”

As the Lions look forward to their post-season to compete in CIF, coach Davor Fabulich had this to say about Mendoza:

“As a coach I am excited to see Andres play at UCI, they have a competitive program and an amazing coaching staff. Andres is on of JSerra’s top players and works hard as captain of the team. I couldn’t be more proud of Andres.”

Michael Nowicki Named Scholar Athlete by OC Varsity

A key member for the Lions golf team, Michael Nowicki has also been a standout in his academics and around the school community. Nowicki is currently taking Intro to Philosophy, AP English/Language Composition, AP American Government/Politics, Intro to Film, Physics, Calculus, and Fundamentals and Principals of Radiographic Imaging.

Nowicki is a member of the school’s Habitat for Humanity Club, and is member of the National Honors Society and the California Scholastic Federation, with a 4.40 GPA.

Nowicki is also affiliated with the school’s Pre-Medical Professional Magnet Program, and will attend University of California Los Angeles next fall.

Founder’s Son Named Top Scholar Athlete in OC

Congratulations to Nico Darras, son of JSerra founder Frank Darras, was named in the Orange County Registers Top Scholar Athletes for all sports in Orange County. Darras  who is headed to CS Fullerton, is a three-year starter for the Lions. The first baseman has a 3.71 GPA for the Lions, who are in third place in the Trinity League. 

Nico was also nominated for West Coast Powerade player of the Year, and selected for the South Orange County All-Star Team.
