We are always proud of our Lions. Every year, we see students reach their potential and show the world who they are as individuals. They are first and foremost students, but our Lions are also stellar in other aspects of their lives! We are so proud of the following students who signed their letters of intent to the universities of their dreams this Spring!

Outstanding 2014 Girls Volleyball Season & Highlight Video

Our Lady Lions had a 2014 volleyball season for the books! Their teamwork and determination landed them a win against Orange Lutheran and a spot in the Round 1 CIF game against Long Beach Poly. The girls went home with their first ever Round 1 CIF win, and the anticipation for Round 2 against Great Oaks was building for the team and fans. Unfortunately, their season ended there, but they made history for our school and JSerra could not be more proud!

Congratulations to Dustin Goetz for committing to play volleyball as an eagle at Concordia University.

“I am excited to have the opportunity to play volleyball in college. I didn’t think that I would have the opportunity,” said Goetz. “I have been very fortunate to have had a great community at JSerra and I hope to find that same family-like community at Concordia.”

Goetz has played for the Lions as a center for four years, and would like to major in Communications, while at Concordia.

By Victor Carno, The Capistrano Dispatch

The first two sets between the JSerra and Santa Margarita boys volleyball teams April 9 match were neck and neck, the first set ending 25-20 and the second at 25-22, both in JSerra’s favor.

The third and final set is when JSerra (8-6, 2-2 league) kicked things into over-drive and won 25-15, pulling out the three-set win win in their first match against Santa Margarita (6-10, 0-4) in league play. The win pulled the Lions to .500 in Trinity League play.

“There is nothing I would change about the team, they’re playing volleyball at an extremely high level right now,” JSerra head coach Tim Layton said of his team, which has bounced back from losing their first two league games against Mater Dei and St. John Bosco, respectively, with a win over Servite on March 26 and the Eagles.

Senior Carl Nolet, helped lead the Lions to finals of the Division 2 bracket of the Orange County Championships. JSerra went 5-0 in pool play in the tournament. Nolet has been a steadying force as the Lions have dealt with several injuries this season.

“I am very proud of these athletes. We have experienced much adversity this season and are coming together at the right time,” said Head Coach Tim Layton.  “Dusty, Carl and Connor had a great tournament and their leadership came through at some tough times.  Senior Chase Brannier and Kyle Smith made tremendous contributions that helped us throughout the tournament.”
